iPod post
It would appear that someone saw fit to give me an iPod this Christmas. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this, except that it will be cool to browse at school without having to drag my heavy laptop around.
On the downside, this keyboard is really hard to use. I don't think that I'll be posting with it much.

Hellsing? Hell Yes!
So I bought Hellsing Ultimate Vols. I-III off of Amazon a couple of weeks ago.
They all came in the mail yesterday. ♥
In other news, it's winter here without a doubt. =/ Our first snowfall happened last night, and it's been snowing on-and-off all day today.

Emperor Peony Upala Malkuth IX.
Because a) he wouldn't make any extreme advances (yeah, I'm shy), and b) he knows how to have fun, even for royalty.

Tales of Edgecumbe: 142 years of American ownership
So! Today's Alaska Day.
It was actually kind of fun, even though Sitka's the only place in the state where it's a huge deal. I was a little disappointed that the Naa Kahidi dancers were kind of drowned out by the rest of the parade, but it's awfully hard to sing over Coast Guard helicopters.
After the parade, I went to see the re-enactment of the 1867 transfer of Alaska. The last time I saw it, the actor playing General Rousseau was in modern army fatigues. =| Thankfully, they seem to have corrected it this year and gave the actor something more century-appropriate.
Oh! I also met our new governor, Sean Parnell. He looks like he might actually know what he's doing.
In other and totally unrelated news, I seem to have settled on going as a yuurei for Halloween. I hope I can make a quick kimono by next week.

Tales of Edgecumbe: Thank Gods I Didn't Go All The Way Up
I'll be brief.
My schedule is crammed this semester. I've got two classes that I know will give out a ton of homework, plus I'm thinking of working as an English tutor. I've also got Technology Club and Japan Club to worry about, seeing as how I'm deeply involved in both. Plus I've also volunteered to take part in Band...
Really, how does Mary-Sue manage her classes while saving the world? Ah, right, she's Mary-Sue.
I guess this means that I've got even less time to put together my storyline for NaNoWriMo. Damn.
In other news, I climbed up a mountain today. I didn't make it to Arrowhead Peak, just Picnic Rock. I slipped on the way down and bruised my tailbone, so I'm going to be in pain for a while. Demi, on the other hand, did make it all the way up Arrowhead - and she said it was sheer slick rock and a sharp drop.
I'm really, really glad I stopped when I did. There's no way I could've made it all the way up there in those conditions. I'm not disappointed in myself, though - I climbed up a 2000-foot mountain.

Tales of Edgecumbe: It's Getting Warm in Here
I had a rather interesting wake-up call this morning when my roommate Demi, who was on the 2:00 AM flight from Anchorage, opened the door to my room at three and pounced on me. Pounced. She even shouted "INVASION OF PERSONAL SPACE!" while she did so.
I rolled over and finally got to sleep again at around 4.
Today also marks the first day of Edgecamp, where new students and returning students socialise, meet with staff members, get medical examinations, etc. I spent a good chunk of today chatting with my US History teacher. I even lost a game of Scrabble to her and two freshmen. Sometimes there's just no justice. :<
After Edgecamp, Mom came and checked me out of the dorms and we went to dinner. It was kind of overpriced, but it was probably healthier than whatever was served in the cafeteria.
Oh, and I finally saw Miki-sensei again. I've told her to meet with Demi and myself at some point in the near future. If I ever get my schedule figured out, I'll most likely be studying with Miki-sensei during Japanese III independent study.
In the meantime, I've still got to unpack two totes.

Tales of Edgecumbe: Prologue: Journey to the Capital
There's three days until Edgecamp starts, and I've been zoning out for the past two hours or so. I woke up around 5 o'clock this morning as the ferry made port in Kake. It was all kind of surreal, waking up on a noisy, vibrating ship. The noisiest thing I've heard in the past few months are the Coast Guard helicopters that fly over our house every once in a while.
Though now that I think about it, I probably won't have that kind of peace and quiet for the next few months. At least I'm not living in Main Dorm with 80-something other girls any more.
And now I'm in the state capital. I'm rather disappointed that I can't see the legislature building from the hotel window.
Ah, well. At least we've got a more stable governor in office.

Tales of Edgecumbe: Prologue: T-Minus 5
Well, summer's been fun, but I must go now.
But! I am not gone entirely.
For I will be keeping a log of the best high school in all of Alaska~!
That's right, this my final year at Mount Edgecumbe High School. It's a boarding school in Sitka, and as expected with such a setting, there are plenty of laughs to find and hilarity to ensue.
Of course, the log itself won't start until school starts, but I'll be sure to cover things like orientation and Edgecamp.
Totally unrelated, but I found my Weird Al collection. This will be a good year.

So when I took a shower his morning I found myself singing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. All was well until I got to about the fourth verse, where my memory for lyrics promptly failed.
I immediately filled the ensuing awkward silence with Dies Irae.
My life is weird.

Okay, so I went out hunting yesterday. It was about 8:00 at night when I finally got to the campsite.
Needless to say, I feel pretty awesome right now. Or rather, I feel a lot more useful. :3

Woohoo camping trip~
Kinda. Okay, so it's an overnight hunting trip on one of the local mountains. Yes, hunting. For blacktail deer. It's kind of a necessity here, so no gun wank please. D: I'm actually against handgun ownership, but hunting rifles are... different.
I'm looking forward to it, actually. 83 It's been a while since I last shot a gun, so I'm probably pretty rusty. I used to be able to hit a neck-sized target at a hundred yards. Let's hope that I still can, or this is going to be a looooong trip.
If I get something, do I dare post a picture?
Anywho, it also means I'll be without an internet connection, so I probably won't be able to get back to anyone for a while. For that matter, I'm pretty sure I'll also be out of cell range. I could be wrong about that, though.
My DS is a must, though. I don't have any playing cards, or I'd be bringing those instead.
I've also wimped out on an application to Memento Eden. =| I guess I was kind of intimidated by the 10-post-long applications, where mine was only three pages. Perhaps I can apply for Jade another time, when I'm more comfortable with the idea of playing as him.
I'd still like to join, though. If I do, I'll most likely apply for Tzekel-Kan from The Road to El Dorado. He looks like he'd be fun to play, seeing as how I've never played a mad high priest before. If nothing else, explaining his background will be much easier than explaining Jade's. x.x

Edit: Actually, disregard that. The Wraith are so much cooler than vampires.
The Bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.
Ffffff I know Alucard's a complete monster but gods why does Crispin Freeman have such an awesome voice? I'd never want to go near him, but I could listen to him all day...

The hell?
I *still* haven't used this thing? ><;
I guess I'm just too fond of my devART journal. Ah well.
Well, since this is my musing post, I guess I'll muse a little while I'm waiting for my habit of procrastinating to finally give way to the realisation that I have a ton of notes to take.
Why is it that Peony IX is the ToA fandom's butt monkey? I mean, I know the guy isn't a genius or uberly sarcastic and that he has a weird passion for designing clothes, but he's not stupid. He's actually really clever, if you think about it. Somehow, he managed to avoid getting caught sneaking out of his manor when he was 10. Hell, he probably still sneaks out of the palace and mingles with the everyday folk.
Urgh, I guess I can't really muse right now. It doesn't work if you only have two things on the brain.
